Miscellaneous: Suspended by AHL for six games during 1986-87 season for returning to the ice from the dressing room to rejoin a fight during Fredericton's Nov. 20, 1987, game at Springfield. He had just been sent off for fighting Mick Vukota when he came back to defend his coach, Ron Lapointe, who was being threatened by Vukota and Springfield coach Gord Lane. ... Shifted from his natural position of defense to left wing for 1988-89 season. He continued to play both left wing and defense for the remainder of his pro career. ... Suspended by IHL for 10 games in October 1990. ... Was on Albany (IHL) team that folded on Feb. 15, 1991. He finished the 1990-91 season with Muskegon (IHL). ... Was one of first three players signed by Cincinnati Cyclones (IHL) for the team's inaugural 1992-93 season. ... Retired for the first time after the 1992-93 season because he was recovering from back surgery. ... Came out of retirement when he signed with Austin (WPHL) as a free agent on Nov. 1, 1996, for balance of 1996-97 season. He had been serving as the team's executive director but was forced to play because of injuries. ... Was with Tupelo (WPHL) for start of 1998-99 season but did not play for team before being released. ... Signed with Fort Worth (WPHL) as a free agent on Oct. 28, 1998.
Personal: Older brother of former minor-leaguer Steve Shaunessy.
