on to win Stanley Cup, but was not with team during postseason.
Miscellaneous: Missed parts of 1986-87 season with pulled groin, suffered
in St. Louis' Oct. 11, 1986, at Vancouver. He did not return to action until
St. Louis' Nov. 1, 1986, game vs. Pittsburgh. ... Missed part of 1986-87
season with sprained
left shoulder, suffered when he was checked by Wendel Clark in St. Louis'
Jan. 21, 1987, game at Toronto. ... Wore No. 36 in Quebec's 1988 training camp. ... Claimed on waivers by Detroit on Dec. 20, 1988, but never
played for parent team. ... Signed with Edmonton as unrestricted free
agent on Feb. 1, 1990. ... Traded by Edmonton to Minnesota for Kari Takko
and a conditional draft choice on Nov. 22, 1990. The trade was
dubbed "The Takko-Bell Deal," although Bell never played for the North
Stars. |

HOW HE GOT AWAY |
TRADE/WAIVERS:
Quebec traded Bell to St. Louis in exchange for Gilbert Delorme on October
2, 1985. Three years later, Quebec got Bell back when N.Y. Rangers traded
Bell, Jari Gronstrand, Walt Poddubny and 1989 fourth-round pick (Eric
Dubois) to the Nordiques in exchange for Jason Lafreniere and Normand
Rochefort on August 1, 1988. Quebec lost Bell again when it placed him on
waivers, and he was claimed by Detroit on December 20, 1988. |
