the first NHL
game for Steve Yzerman. ... Played on lines with Ted Nolan and Dwight Foster
and Kelly Kisio and Ivan Boldirev for Detroit
in 1983-84. ... Missed part of 1983-84 season with strained shoulder, suffered during Detroit's Feb. 9, 1984, game vs. Pittsburgh. ... Led
Detroit with 22.7 scoring percentage in 1983-84. ... Finished second among
NHL rookies in 1983-84 with 22.7 percent scoring percentage. ... Missed
remainder of 1984-85 regular season and entire 1985 playoffs with strained
ligaments in right knee, an injury suffered in Detroit's March 15, 1985,
game at Vancouver. The injury required season-ending arthroscopic surgery on
March 17, 1985. ... Played on "Troll Line" with Dwight Foster and Billy
Carroll for Detroit in 1985-86. ... Suspended by NHL for three games during 1985-86 season
for being first player off bench to join fight in Detroit's Jan. 13, 1986, game
at
Toronto. Detroit coach Brad Park later said he specifically
ordered Lambert to go over the boards and join the fight. Lambert served the
suspension from Jan. 15 to Jan. 19, 1986. ... Missed start of 1986-87 season with hip
flexor injury, suffered during N.Y. Rangers' training camp in October 1986.
He did not make his 1986-87 regular-season debut until N.Y. Rangers' Dec.
10, 1986, game vs. Los Angeles. He scored two goals in that game, including
the first goal just 2:28 into the first period. ... Missed part of
1987-88 season with complex fracture of left middle finger, an injury
suffered during Quebec's Dec. 20, 1987, game vs. Detroit. He did not return to action until
Quebec's Jan. 28, 1988, game at Boston. |
