1990-91: Played on Pittsburgh team that won Stanley Cup. His name was
engraved on the Cup because he appeared in playoffs, but he did not play in
any Stanley Cup Finals games vs. Minnesota. Coaching Career: Named
Pittsburgh assistant coach during 1996-97 season, working on a part-time basis
due to other job commitments, and remained in that position through 1997-98
season. ... Named Pittsburgh assistant coach on Aug. 10, 2000, and remained in
that position into 2003-04 season.
Miscellaneous: Missed remainder of 1982 playoffs with knee injury,
suffered during Game 4 of Boston's Adams Division finals series at Quebec on
April 18, 1982. ... Missed parts of 1982-83 season with left knee injury,

Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and American Cancer Society. He was honorary
chairman of the CF Foundation's "65 Roses Club" in 1985-86 through 1989-90
seasons. ... Went to work for the Luther Financial Group in Pittsburgh after
his retirement, and continued to work for company while also serving as
Pittsburgh assistant coach in 1997-98. Eventually left the financial-services
business to return to coaching at the NHL level. Personal: Full name is Randy George

TRADE: Boston traded Hillier to Pittsburgh in
exchange for 1985 fourth-round pick (later traded) on October 11, 1984. The
trade was announced shortly after Boston and Pittsburgh had played each other
in the season-opener at Boston. Hillier did not play in that game. |
