Career: Named self Atlanta interim head coach on Dec. 26, 2002, and
remained in that position until Jan. 14, 2003.
Management Career: Named Detroit assistant general manager in July 1997
and remained in that position until June 23, 1998. ... Named Atlanta vice
president and general manager on June 23, 1998, prior to team's inaugural 1999-00
season, added title of alternate governor prior to 2000-01 season, upgraded
title to executive vice president prior to 2004-05 season, and remained
in position through 2006-07 season.
Miscellaneous: Made his NHL debut in his hometown of Detroit. ... Had
signed four-year contract to be Detroit's assistant general manager. Atlanta
paid Detroit a cash settlement so that Waddell could leave after completing
only the first year. |
