AWARDS AND HONORS Education: Majored in criminal justice at

Miscellaneous: Wore No. 9 at Lake Superior State University. ... Took
six penalties in second period of Lake Superior's Dec. 6, 1985, game at
Michigan State--the most penalties ever taken in one period by a Michigan
State opponent. ... Left Moncton (AHL) on Oct. 10, 1987, because he was not
sure he wanted to play in the minor leagues after having performed well at
Winnipeg's 1987 training camp. One week before he left, Warus' good friend
Matt Cote nearly lost an eye when he was accidentally cut by a skate.
Without his friend in the lineup, Warus was that much less motivated to stay
in the minor leagues. Warus later returned to Moncton for the second half of
the 1987-88 season. ... Missed part of 1988-89 season with shoulder injury,
suffered in December 1988. |
