his face, opening up a big cut. After a subsequent hearing, the NHL on Oct.
4, 1990, said Norton had used excessive force and would be suspended. Norton
argued that he had raised his stick in anticipation of Daniels doing the
same as both players collided behind the N.Y. Islanders net. Because of the
suspension, Norton did not make his 1990-91 NHL regular-season debut until
N.Y. Islanders' Oct. 24, 1990, game at Montreal. ... Missed part of 1990-91
season with dislocated right shoulder, an injury suffered in second-period
scuffle with John Druce during N.Y. Islanders' Nov. 3, 1990, game vs.
