NHL AWARDS AND HONORS
1988-89:
Played one playoff game for Calgary team that went on to win Stanley Cup, but did not appear in finals vs. Montreal. He therefore did not qualify to have his name engraved on the Cup, although he was awarded a Stanley Cup ring by the team.
Broadcasting Career: Named Washington home-games radio color commentator prior to 2002-03 season, upgraded to full-time role prior to 2003-04 season, and held that position through 2003-04 season.
Miscellaneous: Took part in third-period brawl in his first NHL game. He was one of four players to receive fighting majors in the brawl. ... Traded by Washington with Paul MacDermid to Quebec in exchange for Mike Hough on January 20, 1993, but never played for parent team.

Was on Calgary team that joined Washington for 1989 NHL Friendship Tour in Soviet Union. The Flames faced four Soviet teams on the tour.
HOW HE GOT AWAY
TRADE: Calgary traded Sabourin to Washington for Paul Fenton on January 24, 1991. Two years later, Calgary got Sabourin back in a deal with Washington for future considerations on December 15, 1992.
