Was youngest player to make an NHL roster out of training camp in 1980. Won roster spot age 18 years, seven months. .. Missed part of 1982-83 season with broken hand. While he was out with the injury, he served as a linesman for Hartford's Jan. 15, 1983, game vs. New Jersey. Volcan and New Jersey's Garry Howatt served as linesmen because a blizzard had prevented two  officials from making it to the game. ... Signed with Edmonton as an unrestricted free agent prior to 1985-86 season, but never played for parent team.
