11:24 of the first period, beat Detroit goaltender Glen Hanlon. Hall of
Famer Clark Gillies and Phil Housley assisted on the goal, which gave
Buffalo at 2-0 lead in what ended a 5-5 tie. ... Missed parts of 1988-89
season with sprained knee, suffered in Buffalo's Nov. 13,
1988, game vs. Edmonton, with finger injury, suffered in December 1988, and
with sprained knee, an injury suffered in March 1989. ... Missed remainder
of 1989-90 season and entire 1990 playoffs with sprained back, an injury
suffered during Buffalo's March 16, 1990, game vs. Toronto. |

HOW HE GOT AWAY |
TRADE:
Buffalo traded Parker, Phil Housley, Scott Arniel and 1990 first-round
pick (Keith Tkachuk) to Winnipeg in exchange for Dale Hawerchuk, 1990 first-round pick
(Brad May) and future considerations on June 16, 1990. Parker refused to
play for the Jets organization after being assigned to the team's AHL
affiliate in Moncton out of training camp. Winnipeg finally waived him in February 1991. He
promptly signed a tryout contract
with the Pittsburgh organization on February 5, 1991, but never
played for the Penguins parent team before being traded with John Cullen and Zarley
Zalapski to Hartford in exchange for Ron Francis, Grant Jennings and Ulf Samuelsson on
March 4, 1991. |
