unrestricted free agent in the WHA. He signed with Cincinnati (WHA) in July
1978. ... Was on Cincinnati (WHA) team that folded along with the WHA after
the 1978-79 season as the league prepared to merge with the NHL. He was
claimed by Hartford in the WHA Dispersal Draft on June 9, 1979. ...

HOW HE GOT AWAY |
WHA/FREE AGENCY: After spending four seasons
in the Montreal organization, Luksa jumped to the WHA with Cincinnati in 1978.
When the NHL and WHA merged in 1979, Montreal chose not to take him back in
the NHL Reclaim Draft, and he remained property of Hartford, the last WHA team
that had owned his rights, as a restricted free agent. He signed with Hartford
in August 1979. |
