he had received from Polonich. The 15-game suspension was the longest in NHL
history to that date. Polonich later won a lawsuit related to the incident.

Toronto in a 4-2 victory at Philadelphia on Oct. 12, 1980. ... Missed part of
1981-82 season with sprained right knee, an injury suffered in Quebec's 4-2
loss at Montreal on March 27, 1982. ... Missed parts of 1984-85 season with
knee, finger and groin injuries. ... Scored at least 20 goals in 11 straight
seasons from 1974-75 through 1984-85. ... Missed start of 1985-86 season with
torn knee ligaments, an injury suffered in Quebec's 1985 training camp. ...
Missed part of 1985-86 season with fractured left foot, an injury he suffered
in his first game with N.Y. Rangers on Feb. 9, 1986, at Boston. ... Missed
final 20 games of 1986-87 season with right knee injury that required surgery.
He suffered the injury in Buffalo's game at Boston on Feb. 28, 1987. ... Was
the last player other than Wayne Gretzky to wear No. 99 in an NHL game, while
playing for Toronto vs. Montreal on March 6, 1982. The number has since been retired and will never
be worn by another NHL player. |
