and remained in that position through 1985-86 season. ... Named New Jersey pro
scout prior to 1993-94 season and remained in that position into 2002-03
season. Coaching Career: Named New Jersey assistant coach prior to
1986-87 season and remained in that position through 1988-89 season.
Miscellaneous: Left unprotected by Chicago for 1979 NHL Expansion Draft
but was reclaimed as fill-in after Bobby Hull was taken off Chicago roster on
June 14, 1979. ... Left unprotected by Philadelphia for 1982 NHL Waiver Draft
and claimed by Edmonton on Oct. 4, 1982, but never played for parent team. ...
Traded back to Philadelphia by Edmonton in exchange for Peter Dineen on Oct.
22, 1982. ... Missed part of 1982-83 season with sprained wrist, an injury
suffered during Philadelphia's Jan. 22, 1983, game vs. N.Y. Islanders. ...
Suspended six games during 1983-84 season for swinging his stick at Brian
Bellows late in first period of New Jersey's Dec. 17, 1983, game at Minnesota.
Although the swing was unintentional, Hoffmeyer received a match penalty on
the play and sat out New Jersey's games from Dec. 20-31, 1983. ... Missed part

during postseason. Coaching Career: Named Utica (AHL) associate
coach prior to 1989-90 season and remained in that position through 1989-90
season. ... Named Kalamazoo (IHL) head coach on July 30, 1991, and
remained in that position until Nov. 21, 1992. Miscellaneous: Missed
part of 1978-79 season with broken jaw. ... Missed start of 1985-86 season
with strained left knee, an injury suffered in New Jersey's 1985 training
camp. ... Retired for first time on Oct. 26, 1985, but came out of retirement
in March 1986 to play for shorthanded Maine (AHL) team before retiring again.
... Came out of retirement to play one game for Albany (AHL) at age 40 in
March 1996. He played because he was scouting at the arena in Cornwall,
