Chandler, Ariz., in May 2003 and remained in that position into 2003-04 season.
Education: Took summer business classes at University of Manitoba during
his early playing days in Winnipeg. ... Finished undergraduate degree in
business administration at Michigan Tech in 1984. Miscellaneous: Led Team Canada
defensemen in scoring with 31 total points during 1979-80 pre-Olympic tour and 1980
Olympics. ... Loaned by Winnipeg to
Team Canada for 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, causing him to miss 10 games
in Jets' 1987-88 season. The Jets made the last-minute decision
to loan Watters on Jan. 31, 1988, just under two weeks before the Olympics
opened. ... Was active in charitable causes during his playing days,
including work as honorary commodore of Winnipeg's Canoe-a-thon, an event that
raised money to benefit the mentally handicapped, and work on behalf of Big
Brothers and Ronald McDonald House when he was in Los Angeles. Personal: Nicknamed "Muddy." ...
