Named Indianapolis (IHL) head coach on July, 13, 1988, prior to team's inaugural as Indianapolis Ice, and remained in that position until Feb. 14, 1989. ... Named Nashville (ECHL) head coach prior to 1989-90 season and remained in that position through 1989-90 season.
Miscellaneous: Suffered concussion during Port Huron's Oct. 29, 1978 IHL game vs. Dayton, when Willie Trognitz slammed Henderson's head with his stick. The incident led to Trognitz being banned from the IHL for life. Ironically, Henderson and Trognitz would later become teammates and friends during the 1979-80 season in Fort Worth. ... Missed part of 1980-81 season with hand injury suffered in November 1980. ... Was most popular player on 1981-82 Nashville (CHL) team, and was named an honorary citizen of Nashville in 1982. ... Suspended six games by AHL during 1985-86 season for stick-swinging encounter with Jim Archibald during Maine's Oct. 25, 1985, game at Springfield. Henderson received a match penalty at the time of the incident. ... Suspended 12 games by AHL during 1985-86 season for cross-checking Robin Bartel during Maine's Dec. 7, 1985, game at Moncton. ... Ran hockey school in Calgary during off-seasons of his playing days. ... Assisted Team Canada with player evaluations at its Calgary training base during late 1980s. ... Suffered ruptured colon on Feb. 14, 1989. Had surgery to repair the colon the following day, and missed remainder of season recovering from surgery. ... Became active in minor hockey in Alberta after his retirement, working with Southern Alberta Selects Hockey Association.
