Quebec in September 1977 after realizing he would make more money there, but
the WHA refused to let him play in the league since he was already under
contract with the NHL's Capitals and knew it would face a lawsuit if it did
not bar him. An angry Picard said he would "rather deliver pizzas in Quebec
City" than play hockey in Washington before reporting to the Capitals'
training camp. ... Planned for career selling life insurance in
