Miscellaneous: Reclaimed by Montreal when WHA merged with NHL in the NHL Reclaim Draft on June 9, 1979. Montreal then left him unprotected for the expansion draft as part of a deal with his last WHA team (Winnipeg) in which Winnipeg agreed not to take Bill Nyrop, Gilles Lupien or Rod Langway. He was claimed by Winnipeg on June 13, 1979, becoming first overall pick in the 1979 NHL Expansion Draft. ... Signed first NHL contract with Winnipeg on July 4, 1979. ... Had assist in first NHL game, which was first game in Winnipeg/Phoenix franchise history. His assist came on franchise's first goal, scored by Morris Lukowich at 13:34 of the third period in 4-2 loss at Pittsburgh. ... Missed end of 1979-80 season with compound fracture of thumb, an injury suffered during Winnipeg's Feb. 15, 1980, game at Hartford. ... Missed part of 1980-81 season with fractured ankle, an injury suffered during his first game with Chicago in December 1980. ... Released by Chicago in June 1984 and signed with Winnipeg as unrestricted free agent in August 1984. ... Wore No. 21 in Winnipeg's 1984 training camp. ... Failed to win an NHL job with Winnipeg and chose to retire.

HOW HE GOT AWAY
WHA/TRADE: While Marsh was playing in the WHA, Pittsburgh traded his NHL rights to Montreal to complete the deal that sent Peter Mahovlich and Peter Lee to Pittsburgh for Pierre Larouche and future considerations on Nov. 29, 1977. As the future considerations part of the trade, Marsh's rights went to Montreal on December 15, 1977.
