torn cartilage in right knee, an injury suffered in Feb. 24, 1981 game at
Vancouver. The surgery was performed in March. ... Shattered left ankle while
playing for Philadelphia in game at Buffalo on Nov. 1, 1981, when he and Tony
McKegney were racing back into the Philadelphia zone to touch up for an icing
call. The injury, which required three surgical pins and screws to keep his
ankle together, ended Dailey's season and NHL career -- forcing his first
retirement in July 1982. |

Owned part of Severin's entertainment and dining complex in Burnaby, B.C.,
during his playing days. ... Came out of retirement to play five games for
Hershey (AHL) in March 1986 NHL comeback attempt. ... Remained in Philadelphia
after retirement and became board member in Flyers' alumni group.
Personal: Nicknamed "Moose" in Vancouver and "The Count" in Philadelphia. |
