Career: Named Buffalo assistant coach on July 26, 2002, and remained in

Miscellaneous: Played on line with Dale Hawerchuk and Paul MacLean for
Winnipeg in 1981-82. ... Loaned by Winnipeg to Team Canada for 1982 World
Junior Championship tournament. ... Missed part of 1981-82 season with
lacerated wrist, suffered in February 1982. ... Scored hat trick in Winnipeg's
1983-84 season opener vs. Detroit on Oct. 5, 1983. ... Played on line with
Laurie Boschman and Lucien DeBlois for Winnipeg in 1983-84. ... Played all
three forward positions during his NHL career, shifting to right wing on a

was part of ownership group through 1988-89 season. Miscellaneous: Played on first
Canadian team to win a gold medal at World Junior Championships in 1982. ...
Never played in minor leagues until demoted by Boston to Maine (AHL)
during 1991-92 season. ... Signed with San Diego (IHL) as unrestricted free
agent on Oct. 7, 1992. ... Signed with Manitoba (IHL) as unrestricted free
agent in 1996. ... A born-again Christian, he worked at Christian Teen Ranch

HOW HE GOT AWAY |
TRADE (2): Winnipeg traded Arniel to Buffalo
in exchange for Gilles Hamel on June 21, 1986. Four years later, Winnipeg got Arniel back when Buffalo traded Arniel, Phil Housley, Jeff Parker and 1990
first-round pick (Keith Tkachuk) to Winnipeg for Dale Hawerchuk and 1990 first-round
pick (Brad May) and future considerations (Greg Paslawski) on June 16, 1990.
Paslawski was sent to Buffalo on Feb. 5, 1991, to complete deal. Winnipeg lost Arniel again when it traded him to Boston
in exchange for
future considerations on November 22, 1991. |
