World Junior Championships Team Canada Captain: 1979
Miscellaneous: Was on New Westminster team that won 1977 Memorial Cup, but
did not play in any of the Memorial Cup tournament games. ... Was one of eight
New Westminster players suspended by WHL for role in bench-clearing brawl vs.
Portland during 1979 WHL playoffs. New Westminster coach Ernie "Punch" McLean
permitted his players out to attack the three Portland players on the ice,
although Portland's bench never emptied in response. The brawl led to 156
penalty minutes against New Westminster players as well as criminal charges
filed by New Westminster police. The brawl's main victims were Portland's Jim
Dobson and Blake Wesley, who were pummeled by three to four New Westminster
players at a time. Due to a court ruling on the criminal case, all suspended
New Westminster players were barred from returning to organized hockey until
Dec. 1, 1979. |

Miscellaneous: Was not allowed to play in NHL until Dec. 1, 1979, due
to a court-ordered suspension resulting from his role in a brawl during 1979
WHL playoffs. ... Played on line with Dean Hopkins and Andre St. Laurent for
Los Angeles in 1980-81. ... Missed part of 1981-82 season with sprained ankle,
an injury suffered in December 1981. ... Played on lines with Jim Fox and Greg
Terrion and with Jim Fox and Bernie Nicholls for Los Angeles in 1981-82. ...
Missed parts of 1982-83 season with two broken bones in right foot, an injury
suffered when he was hit by a puck during Los Angeles' Dec. 14, 1982, game at
Washington, with sore left hand, an injury suffered in mid-March 1983, and
with sore left foot, suffered in late March 1983. ... Asked to be traded by
Los Angeles three times during 1985-86 season due to dissatisfaction with his
playing time. ... Released by Los Angeles when team bought out option year of
his contract in June 1986. He was unable to catch on with another team and
chose to retire. |
