It was the same Soviet team that lost to Team USA in the 1980 Olympic "Miracle on Ice" game. ... Missed part of 1981-82 season with right eye injury suffered during Buffalo's Jan. 30, 1982, game at Calgary. He was struck in the eye by Phil Russell's errant stick, and the injury nearly ended his career. He resumed playing with a face shield. ... Played on line with Andre Savard and Craig Ramsay for Buffalo in 1981-82. ... Left Buffalo in 1986 with team record (since broken) for most games played by a right wing (664). ...
