Career Beyond Hockey: Returned
to the Twin Cities and went to work as a marketing assistant for General
Mills after leaving Wisconsin in 1974. He rose to the highest ranks of
senior management in his 36 years as an executive. He was President of
several General Mills divisions, including Betty Crocker and Big G
Cereals (Wheaties, Cheerios, Trix, etc.). He was the company's Senior
Vice President of Sales and Channel Development from 1993 to 1997. He
was General Mills' President of Consumer Food Sales from 1997 to 2005,
and finally the Executive Vice President, Worldwide Sales and Channel
Development, from 2005 until his retirement from the company in August
2010.
