Scouting Career: Named Dallas amateur scout (for Finland) prior to 2001-02 season and remained in position through 2006-07 season.
Miscellaneous: Signed first NHL contract with Minnesota on Sept. 3, 1985. ... Served as interpreter for NHL teammate Jari Gronstrand when Gronstrand came to Minnesota for 1986-87 season. ... Missed part of 1988-89 season with shingles in his ear, an illness diagnosed in December 1988. He was taken out of Minnesota's Dec. 19, 1988, game at Vancouver, complaining of symptoms that turned out to be shingles. He did not return to action until Minnesota's Jan. 21, 1989, game at N.Y. Islanders, after having sat on the bench as a backup to John Casey from Jan. 14-19, 1989. ... Missed start of Minnesota's 1989 training camp with broken right ankle, suffered when he was hit by Basil McRae's slap shot during a pre-camp workout on Aug. 31, 1989. ... Had postseason knee surgery in April 1990. ... Traded by Minnesota to Edmonton for Bruce Bell and a conditional draft choice on Nov. 22, 1990. The trade was forever dubbed "The Takko-Bell Deal."

DRAFT RE-ENTRY: Quebec never signed Takko, who remained in Finland. His draft rights lapsed after the 1983-84 season, and he became eligible to re-enter the draft. He was selected by Minnesota in the fifth round of the 1984 NHL Entry Draft.
