Signed first NHL contract with N.Y. Rangers on Feb. 20, 1989, after completing 1988-89 season in Czechoslovakia. The Czech authorities granted Horava permission to enter the NHL at age 27, which made him one of the youngest players ever to gain formal release from Czechoslovakia. ... He arrived in North America on Feb. 25, 1989. ... Missed part of 1989-90 season with concussion, an injury suffered in January 1990. ... Traded by N.Y. Rangers to Quebec in exchange for Stephane Guerard on May 25, 1991, but never played for parent team because he opted to continue his career in Sweden.

HOW HE GOT AWAY
TRADE: Edmonton traded Horava, Don Jackson, Mike Golden and future considerations (Stu Kulak) to N.Y. Rangers in exchange for Reijo Ruotsalainen, Ville Kentala, Clark Donatelli and Jim Wiemer on October 23, 1986. Kulak was sent to N.Y. Rangers to complete the deal on March 10, 1987.
