The second surgery, to remove damaged cartilage, was performed on March 29, 1995, and ended his season. ... Attended Florida's 1995 training camp, but could not pass team physical because of the chronic problems with his left knee. Unable to get medical clearance to play, he chose to retire. ... Had a total of seven knee operations during his NHL career.
