an assist on goal by Dan Woodley in Vancouver's Dec. 15, 1987, game at
Hartford. ... Missed remainder of 1989-90 season with torn ligaments in
left knee, an injury suffered when he collided with Kris King during Vancouver's
March 18, 1990, game at N.Y. Rangers. The injury required surgery. ... Missed part of 1990-91 regular season with
sprained left knee, an injury suffered during Vancouver's Nov. 19, 1990, game vs.
Calgary. He did not return to action until Vancouver assigned him to
Milwaukee (IHL) in January 1991. He then damaged ligaments in the left knee in his third game
with Milwaukee, and required surgery on Jan. 9, 1991. He was
reactivated for the 1991 playoffs, although he did not appear in any
postseason games. ... Played parts of 1991-92 season at left wing for
Vancouver. ... Missed part of 1992-93 season with pulled groin, an injury
suffered during Hartford's Nov. 13, 1992, game at Buffalo. He did not return
to action until Hartford's Dec. 3, 1992, game at San Jose. ... Missed part
of 1992-93 season with partial tear of ACL in left knee, an injury suffered
during Hartford's Dec. 9, 1992, game vs. Ottawa. He did not return to action

Hartford's Jan. 21, 1993, game vs. San Jose. The injury required major

Sept. 14, 1993, due to re-aggravation of left knee injury the he suffered
when he caught his skate in a rut on the ice during a preseason scrimmage in
Burlington, Vt., on Sept. 11, 1993. It was his first time in a game
situation after eight months of rehab from his January 1993 injury. Whalers
coach and general manager Paul Holmgren convinced Agnew to retire out of
fear that he might ruin the knee for life if he kept playing. ... Came out
of retirement pm Aug. 3. 1994, to attempt comeback at Hartford's 1994
training camp. ... Wore No. 7 in Hartford's 1994 training camp. ...
Re-injured left knee during Hartford's Sept. 22, 1994, preseason game at
Ottawa. He was assigned to Springfield (AHL) but re-aggravated the injury
yet again during Springfield's Sept. 28, 1994, practice. Recognizing that
his knee would not hold up in pro hockey, he opted to retire. |

FREE AGENCY: Agnew played out his contract
with Vancouver in 1991-92, and the Canucks chose not to make him a
qualifying offer for the following season. He became an unrestricted free
agent and signed with Hartford on June 24, 1992. |
