1981-82: Played one regular-season game for N.Y. Islanders team that
went on to win Stanley Cup, but was not with team during postseason.
1982-83: Played two playoff games for N.Y. Islanders team that won Stanley
Cup, but did not appear in final series vs. Edmonton.
Miscellaneous: Suffered major facial laceration when he was hit in the
forehead by Anders Kallur's shot during a N.Y. Islanders practice in November
1984. The cut required 66 stitches. ... Missed part of 1984-85 season with
virus, contracted in January 1985. |

Canadian team to win a gold medal at World Junior Championships in 1982. ...
QMJHL rights traded by St. Jean to Shawinigan in exchange for Yves Lapointe in
January 1983. ... Worked toward earning a stockbroker's license during
off-seasons of his playing days. ... Became a professional curler after his
retirement. ... Worked as director of sales for DNA Technologies while working
toward his MBA degree in 2001-02. The company specializes in anti-counterfeit
technology and is involved in the process of authenticating game-worn NHL
sweaters and game-used NHL pucks.
Boutilier's Curling Career: After
his hockey playing and coaching career had ended, Boutilier moved back to Nova Scotia, and
turned to another sport, curling. Boutilier became a prominent curler in his
native country, competing on the World Curling Tour. On June 6, 2002, he was
elected president of the World Curling Players' Association. In this capacity,
he is the chief negotiator for all business relationships and contracts
involving the world's professional curlers.

| HOW HE GOT AWAY |
| FREE-AGENT COMPENSATION: N.Y. Islanders sent
Boutilier to Boston on Sept. 7, 1986, as compensation for signing of
restricted free agent Brian Curran. The Curran signing took place on August
29, 1986, but the Islanders and Bruins could not agree on compensation. The
Islanders wanted to send Boutilier to Boston, but the Bruins asked for Steve
Konroyd. Judge Edward Houston of Ottawa, an arbitrator for the NHL, sided with
the Islanders and awarded Boutilier to Boston. |
