Never played in minor leagues until  demoted by Boston to Maine (AHL) during 1991-92 season. ... Signed with San Diego (IHL) as unrestricted free agent on Oct. 7, 1992. ... Signed with Manitoba (IHL) as unrestricted free agent in 1996. ... A born-again Christian, he worked at Christian Teen Ranch during off-seasons of his playing days and was active in Athletes in Action.
Personal: Full name is Scott William Arniel.
HOW HE GOT AWAY
TRADE (2): Winnipeg traded Arniel to Buffalo in exchange for Gilles Hamel on June 21, 1986. Four years later, Winnipeg got Arniel back when Buffalo traded Arniel, Phil Housley, Jeff Parker and 1990 first-round pick (Keith Tkachuk) to Winnipeg for Dale Hawerchuk and 1990 first-round pick (Brad May) and future considerations (Greg Paslawski) on June 16, 1990. Paslawski was sent to Buffalo on Feb. 5, 1991, to complete deal. Winnipeg lost Arniel again when it traded him to Boston in exchange for future considerations on November 22, 1991.
