Played 40 regular-season games for 1970-71 Springfield team that went on to win AHL Calder Cup after he had been traded out of Los Angeles organization. ... Scored a game-winning goal for Minnesota in his NHL debut, beating Chicago goaltender Gary Smith for a 2-1 lead in a game that the visiting North Stars went on to win 5-1.

Transaction History

March 3, 1971 -- Traded by Los Angeles with future considerations to Minnesota for Wayne Schultz and Steve Sutherland. The deal was completed on March 8, 1971 when Los Angeles sent Roger Cote to Minnesota in exchange for Bill Orban. May 8, 1974 -- Signed three-year WHA contract with Cleveland.

Missed most of 1975-76 season with torn ligaments in knee, an injury suffered during Cleveland's Nov. 7, 1975, WHA game at Calgary. He did not return until Cleveland's March 26, 1976, game vs. Indianapolis.

Selected by Calgary Broncos in 1972 WHA Draft -- the first-ever WHA Draft -- in February 1972. Selected by Cleveland in 1973 WHA Draft of established professional players. Agreed to his three-year, $180,000 WHA contract while still playing in NHL in 1974. Was member of Cleveland (AHL) team that relocated to Jacksonville in January 1973.
