After the Draft
- Traded
by St. Catharines (OHA) to Peterborough in exchange for Dick Redmond on
Dec. 15, 1968.
- Chose not to sign with Montreal
in 1969 after being offered only a $5,500 contract to play in the
AHL.
- Pursued tennis after giving up hockey and
went 6-2 lifetime in Davis Cup singles play, competing for Canada in
1972, 1975, 1976, and 1979.
- Played the longest set in Davis
Cup history in 1976, losing to his opponent from Colombia 24-22 in
the second set of a match he eventually win in five sets
- Played doubles with fellow Canadian Greg Halder at 1977 and 1978 French
Open.
- Won seven Canadian Closed Championship singles titles and was ranked
No. 1 in Canada in 1979. He was also ranked in Canada's top 10 in 13
years between 1968 and 1983.
- Left tennis to return
to hockey in 1973 and played for Fort Wayne (IHL) in 1973-74 and
start of 1974-75 season before suffering knee injury that ended his hockey
career.
- Inducted into the Oklahoma City
University Athletics Hall of Fame in 1996.
- Inducted into the Canadian Tennis
Hall of Fame in 2006.

City University, where he played on the varsity tennis team as its No. 1
singles player and was also on the No. 1 doubles team.
Career Beyond Hockey: After a
remarkably successful career in professional tennis that ran all the way
until he was in his 40s, Power became the
national touring coach for Tennis Canada for several years. He later
worked as the tennis director at
Chateau Montebello for four years, and eventually became the
head tennis professional at
Thornhill Golf and Country Club in Toronto
in April 2007.
