Miscellaneous: Scored goal in his first NHL game. The goal beat Minnesota
goaltender Gilles Meloche at 18:38 of the second period in a 4-3 North Stars
victory. ... Played on line with Bob Bassen and Brad Lauer for N.Y.
Islanders in 1986-87. ... Led N.Y. Islanders with plus-30 rating in 1987-88.
... Suffered 40-stitch gash above his right eye when he was accidentally cut
by Pat Verbeek's skate during Game 6 of N.Y. Islanders' first-round series
at New Jersey on April 14, 1988 -- the Islanders' final 1988 playoff game.
The cut severed Kerr's frontal nerve, requiring microsurgery to repair the
damage. ... Finished 12th in voting for 1987-88 Selke Trophy. ... Suspended
by NHL for one game during 1988-89 season (automatic suspension) for
exceeding the limit on stick violations. ... Missed part of 1988-89
season with sprained left knee, an injury suffered during N.Y. Islanders'
Dec. 9, 1988, game at New Jersey. ... Missed part of 1989-90 season with
bruised left knee, an injury suffered in April 1990. ... Missed remainder of N.Y.
Islanders' 1990 training camp and start of 1990-91 season with bruised kidney,

Rangers. His return to the team was further delayed by a bruised left eyeball,
suffered when he was hit by a stray puck during N.Y. Islanders'
practice on Oct. 15, 1990. The injury required stitches in his eyelid as
well as additional surgery to repair the eye on Oct. 31, 1990. He returned
to action with the Islanders' AHL affiliate in December 1990 and did not
play his first NHL game of 1990-91 season until N.Y. Islanders' Feb. 24,
1991, game at Philadelphia. ... Missed part of 1991-92 season with ankle
injury, suffered in February 1992. |
