HOW HE GOT AWAY |
FREE AGENCY: On July 9, 1996, the N.Y.
Islanders bought out the final year of Flatley's contract at his request,
making him a Group III
unrestricted free agent. The Islanders paid $600,000 to release Flatley from
the remaining $900,000 owed to him. He signed a one-year, $300,000 contract with N.Y. Rangers on September 6, 1996. |
