HOW HE GOT AWAY |
WHA/EXPANSION: Legge never signed with
Montreal and went straight to the WHA. When the NHL and WHA merged in 1979, Montreal
chose not to take Legge in the NHL Reclaim Draft, and his NHL rights remained
with Winnipeg, his last WHA team. Two weeks after retaining his rights,
Winnipeg traded Legge and Jamie Hislop to Quebec in exchange for Barry Melrose
on June 28, 1979. Quebec sold Legge's rights back to Winnipeg on May 26, 1980. |
