AWARDS AND HONORS 1979-80: Played on first Edmonton Oilers NHL
team. Miscellaneous: Saw limited playing time with Montreal in
1978-79, but managed to appear in eight straight games after Canadiens Hall of
Fame goaltender Ken Dryden convinced coach Scotty Bowman that Connor was
needed. ... Scored double-overtime goal to win Game 3 of Montreal's
quarterfinal playoff series vs. Toronto on April 21, 1979. ... Missed final
three rounds of 1979 playoffs with back muscles
weakened by food poisoning that left him bed-ridden for days and turned into a
more devastating intestinal infection. ... The problem
dragged on into Edmonton's 1979 training camp and delayed the start of his
season. ... Was Edmonton's first pick in 1979 NHL Expansion Draft. ...
Collected seven penalty minutes in his first game with N.Y. Rangers vs.
Colorado on March 12, 1980. ... Missed N.Y. Rangers' final seven 1980 playoff
games with wrist injury. |

champion (Houston). Miscellaneous: Went straight to WHA
after draft, becoming the highest 1974 draft choice to take that route. ...
Missed part of 1974-75 season with broken left leg. ... Missed part of 1977-78
season with fractured left hand, an injury that required surgery. ... Was
first professional player to fight Dave Semenko during Semenko's rookie season
in WHA. ... Played on Houston (WHA) team that folded after 1977-78 season. His
WHA rights were purchased from Houston by Winnipeg (WHA), but he argued that
he should be a free agent and attempted to jump to the NHL for the 1978-79
season. The NHL ultimately approved the signing and allowed Connor to enter
the league with Montreal. ... Played on 1983-84 Tulsa (CHL) team that
suspended operations on Feb. 16, 1984, but continued playing final six weeks
of its season on the road and then went on to win playoff title. ... Returned
to Edmonton and went into computer consulting business after retirement,
becoming branch manager with DKW Systems.

EXPANSION DRAFT/TRADE: Montreal left Connor
unprotected for the 1979 NHL Expansion Draft, and he was claimed by Edmonton
on June 13, 1979. Edmonton, however, had made a trade with the Canadiens that
ensured Montreal it would pass on other players to take Connor. |
