(Roanoke Valley) WHA Draft Pick: 1972 (by Miami) 1973-74: Played 37 regular-season
games for Roanoke Valley team that went on to win SHL regular-season and
playoff titles, but was not with team during playoffs. Miscellaneous:
Missed part of 1973-74 season with lacerated hand, an injury that required
surgery. ... Missed part of 1974-75 season with knee injury that required
surgery. ... Played on Phoenix (WHA) team that folded after the 1976-77
season. His rights were purchased from the league by Cincinnati. ... Played on
Birmingham (CHL) team that folded on Feb. 24, 1981. ... Inducted into Roanoke
Valley Hockey Hall of Fame by special vote of fans in 1998. |
HOW HE GOT AWAY |
WHA/FREE AGENCY: Rather than sign with
Philadelphia, Beaudoin went to the new WHA in 1972 and remained in that league for
the next seven seasons. Philadelphia retained his NHL rights but chose not to
take him back when the NHL and WHA merged in June 1979. He became a free agent
and signed with Atlanta on August 15, 1979. |
