first-round draft choice to bypass NHL and sign with WHA team when he signed
with Minnesota in June 1972. ... Returned to hometown of Charlottetown, PEI,
after his retirement, and founded the Sport Page Club, a sports bar that
honors PEI's athletic heritage with its Island Wall of Fame. ... Also ran lawn
care business in Charlottetown. ... Became involved in local politics in PEI,
serving as an MLA (assemblyman) for Charlottetown District 12. He was
first elected to the assembly on April 17, 2000. Personal: Nicknamed "Mack the
