earn a master's degree in 1978.
Career Beyond Hockey: Remained
in Potsdam, N.Y., area after completing his education and became part of
the local business community, while also working for many years as a
local youth-hockey coach and administrator. He was named to the Board of
Directors of the Potsdam Youth Hockey Association in 1978 and continues
to be poart of the PYHA. He was also honored in Potsdam as the local
Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year, served as the Chamber of
Commerce's president, and has been a driving force behind the growth of
youth lacrosse in the community since founding the Potsdam Youth
Lacrosse Program for kids age 10 to 13 in 1988. He also spent 12 years
as a Clarkson assistant lacrosse coach before taking over as the Potsdam
High School boys' lacrosse coach, a position he held for many more
years.
Family: Son of Peterborough
hockey executive Herbert V. Warr, who served as president of
Peterborough Petes (OHA) during his son's college years and was in
Petes' front office for more than 35 years. Herb Warr was inducted into
the Peterborough & District Sports Hall of Fame in its builders'
category in 1994.
