became a teacher. Resumed
teaching in his hometown of Winnipeg in 1976, serving as a physical
education teacher and track and field coach at Garden City
Collegiate, where one of his student-athletes (javelin) was future
NHL player Colton Orr.
In 2013, the Winnipeg Jets honored
Bamburak as a "Hometown Hero" for his contributions to the
community.
