HOW HE GOT AWAY
FREE AGENCY (2): Boston did not offer Reid a new contract for the 1988-89 season, making him an unrestricted free agent. He signed with Toronto in August 1988. Over three years later, Boston got Reid back when he signed with the Bruins as an unrestricted free agent on November 22, 1991. Boston lost Reid a second time when he signed with Dallas as a Group III unrestricted free agent on July 3, 1996.
