HOW HE GOT AWAY
FREE AGENCY: Colorado (later New Jersey) never signed Hidi, who went on to play four seasons at the University of Toronto. The New Jersey organization did not offer Hidi a contract when his college career ended, making him an unrestricted free agent. He signed with Washington on March 29, 1984.
