Played one regular-season game for Minnesota team that went on to 1981 Stanley Cup Finals, but was not with team in playoffs.
Miscellaneous: Missed most of 1984-85 season with knee injury, suffered during Quebec's training camp in October 1984. ... Signed with Philadelphia as unrestricted free agent in August 1985, but never played for parent team. ... Signed with N.Y. Rangers as unrestricted free agent on Dec. 13, 1985, but never played for parent team.

Personal: Full name is James Herold Dobson.
HOW HE GOT AWAY
RIGHTS SOLD/TRADE: Minnesota sold the rights to Dobson and Kevin Maxwell to Colorado on December 31, 1981. Just under a year later, Minnesota got Dobson back when he signed as an unrestricted free agent on Sept. 20, 1982. Minnesota lost Dobson again when it traded him to Quebec in exchange for Jay Miller on June 29, 1983.
