independent school championships at Hill-Murray High
School in Maplewood, Minn., before entering Minnesota-Duluth. The school was
named Hill High School until his final year. Hill High School went 28-1 during
his junior year. His high school coach was Andre Beaulieu, who went on to
coach in the NHL with Minnesota. |

HOW HE GOT AWAY |
WHA/WAIVERS: Langevin did not sign with N.Y.
Islanders after he graduated from Minnesota-Duluth. Instead, he jumped to the
WHA with Edmonton. When the NHL and WHA merged in 1979, N.Y. Islanders took
Langevin back in the NHL Reclaim Draft on June 9, 1979. N.Y. Islanders lost
Langevin when they left him unprotected for the 1985 NHL Waiver Draft, and he
was claimed by Minnesota on Oct. 7, 1985. |
