HOW HE GOT AWAY |
WHA/EXPANSION: Alley never signed with
Chicago, instead jumping to the WHA after his college graduation. His WHA
rights had been traded from New England to Birmingham, but he was reclaimed by
the Whalers in the 1979 WHA Dispersal Draft after Chicago chose not to stake any
claim his rights in the 1979 NHL Reclaim Draft. He entered the NHL with
Hartford for the 1979-80 season. |
