Converted from defense to right wing for his rookie year. ... Made a name for himself as rookie when he fought with Philadelphia's Dave Schultz, injuring Schultz's jaw and forcing him out of a game. ... Scored 1,000th goal in Atlanta/Calgary franchise history on Dec. 3, 1976, vs. Boston. ... Suspended one game for leaving bench during brawl between Atlanta and Toronto in first round of Stanley Cup playoffs on April 10, 1979. ... Played on Atlanta team that relocated to Calgary on June 24, 1980. ... Missed first half of 1980-81 season with hepatitis. ... Missed part of 1981-82 season with hepatitis. ... Was Washington's Masterton Trophy nominee in 1982-83. ... Retired after being released by Los Angeles in August 1984.

HOW HE GOT AWAY
TRADE: Calgary traded Houston and Pat Riggin to Washington in exchange for Howard Walker, George White, a 1982 sixth-round pick (Mats Kihlstron), a 1983 third-round pick (Perry Berezan), and a 1984 second-round pick (Paul Ranheim) on June 9, 1982. At the time of the deal, the draft choices were listed as "future draft considerations."
