AWARDS AND HONORS 1978-79: Played on N.Y. Rangers team that
went to Stanley Cup Finals, but did not appear in postseason due to pinched
nerve in neck.

neck. ... Missed part of 1979-80 season with neck injury. ... Missed part of
1980-81 season with chronic neck problems related to pinched nerve. ... Traded by N.Y. Rangers with Jere Gillis to Quebec for
Robbie Ftorek on Dec. 30, 1981, but chose to retire rather than report to
Nordiques. He initially flew to Quebec and seemed willing to play for his new
team, but had second thoughts about relocating and retired. The NHL allowed
the trade to stand and gave the teams until March 9, 1982, to agree on a
replacement player for Talafous. The teams could not reach an agreement, so an
NHL arbitrator completed the deal by awarding Pat Hickey from the Rangers to
Quebec on March 8, 1982. |
