HOW HE GOT AWAY
TRADE: Buffalo traded Carriere, 1976 No. 1 pick (later traded to Washington) and cash to Atlanta in exchange for Jacques Richard on Oct. 1, 1975. Carriere returned to Buffalo when he was claimed off waivers from Los Angeles on March 12, 1978. The Sabres lost him again when he temporarily retired in 1978.
