Buffalo Director of Player Evaluation on Aug. 20, 1993, and remained in that
position through Sept. 10, 1995. Named Buffalo Assistant to the General Manager on Sept. 11,
1995, and remained in that position until Sept. 2, 2004. ... Served as
Buffalo interim general manager from time John Muckler was fired on May 14,
1997, until Darcy Regier was hired on June 11, 1997.
Miscellaneous: Missed part of 1972-73 season with concussion. ...
Retired for the first time at end of 1977-78 season. ... Came out of retirement to sign five-game tryout contract

from 1981 until 1993.
Personal: Nicknamed "The Hawk" because of his
facial resemblance to a bird of prey. ... Father of former college player and

| TRADE: Buffalo traded Carriere, 1976 No. 1
pick (later traded to Washington) and cash to Atlanta in exchange for Jacques
Richard on Oct. 1, 1975. Carriere returned to Buffalo when he was claimed off
waivers from Los Angeles on March
12, 1978. The Sabres lost him again when he temporarily retired in 1978. |
