Gloucester and Ottawa (CJHL). Miscellaneous: Was on Toronto (WHA)
team when it relocated to Birmingham on June 30, 1976. ... Traded by
Birmingham (WHA) with Jeff Jacques to Edmonton in exchange for Pete
Laframboise, Danny Arndt and Chris Evans in September 1977 but instead chose
to enter NHL and never played for Oilers. ... Played on Phoenix (CHL) team
that folded on Dec. 13, 1978. Personal: Nicknamed "Leapin' Lou." |
HOW HE GOT AWAY |
WHA/FREE AGENCY: Nistico never signed with
Minnesota, instead jumping to the WHA with Toronto. After four seasons in the
WHA, his NHL rights expired and he became a free agent when Minnesota did not
offer him a contract for the 1977-78 season. He signed a five-game tryout
contract with Colorado on Nov. 6, 1977. |
