HOW HE GOT AWAY
TRADE: N.Y. Rangers traded Hickey, Lucien DeBlois, Mike McEwen, Dean Turner and future considerations (Bobby Crawford) to Colorado in exchange for Barry Beck on Nov. 2, 1979. N.Y. Rangers re-obtained Hickey from Toronto in exchange for future consideration (1982 fifth-round pick, Sylvain Charland) on Oct. 16, 1981. N.Y. Rangers lost Hickey again on March 8, 1982, to complete the Dec. 30, 1981, four-player deal in which they had acquired Robbie Ftorek from Quebec. Hickey was not in the original trade, but NHL president John Ziegler awarded him to Quebec at the 1982 trade deadline as a replacement for Dean Talafous, who had retired instead of reporting to Quebec.
