that position until Aug. 9, 1994. ... Named N.Y. Rangers head coach on Aug. 9,
1994, and remained in that position until Feb. 17, 1998. Management
Career: Named NHL Senior Vice President and Director of Hockey Operations
on July 20, 1998, had title changed to Executive Vice President and Director
of Hockey Operations in 1999, and remained in that position into 2003-04 season.
Miscellaneous: Tied Pittsburgh records (since broken) with 25 penalty
minutes in one period and 27 penalty minutes in one game on March 19, 1975, at
California. ... Scored series-clinching goal in Pittsburgh's 1975 first-round
victory over St. Louis. ... Missed part of 1975-76 season with elbow injury
that required surgery. ... Set Edmonton NHL record (since broken) with 196
penalty-minutes in 1979-80. ... Missed part of 1980-81 season with broken
wrist, an injury suffered in Vancouver's game at Toronto on Dec. 10, 1980. ...

HOW HE GOT AWAY |
LOAN/EXPANSION: On Sept. 1, 1976, Pittsburgh
loaned Campbell to Colorado for the 1976-77 season in order to complete deal
sent Simon Nolet and Michel Plasse to Colorado as compensation for
Pittsburgh's Aug. 7, 1976, signing of Pittsburgh restricted free agent Dennis
Herron. Campbell was returned to Pittsburgh for future considerations in May
1977. Pittsburgh
left Campbell unprotected for the 1979 NHL Expansion Draft, and he was claimed
by Edmonton on June 13, 1979. |
