separated shoulder. ... Missed part of 1986-87 season with torn ligaments in
left knee, an injury he suffered when checked by Gord Donnelly in preseason
game against Quebec on Oct. 5, 1986. ... Missed part of 1986-87 season with
groin pull, suffered in game against Pittsburgh on March 14, 1987. ... Was
offered general manager's job in Minnesota in 1988, but chose to play another
season for Montreal. ... Retired as an NHL player on July 17, 1989. ...
Announced in December 2001 that the 2001-02 season would be his final year as
Dallas general manager and that he would spend 2002-03 as a special consultant
to the team. That change took place just over one month later, rather than at
